Kate and Y/N Barton hold their little daughter in their arms…
Clint walks in happy as can be…
Clint: where’s my granddaughter?!
Y/N: you sure look happy to be a grandfather at your age, Dad.
Clint: are you kidding? It’s every parent’s dream! I get to play with the kids and not do the hard job of diaper duty
Kate throws a diaper bag at Clint…
Kate: wait until Y/N and I have our date nights

No One's Favorite
Summary: An introspective look at Natasha's relationships with family over the years and that she is truly only one person's first priority.
Word Count: 2.6k+
A/N: Wowza, it's been so long since I've written widow sisters stuff 😂 Hopefully I haven't lost my touch 😅
It feels good to finally post this one. I've had this in the drafts for a while, but I just didn't fully finish writing it until today 💖 I got inspired to write by @chargedlion's fic that was posted today 😂
I hope y'all enjoyed! Positive comments mean the world to me! 💗💗💗
Natasha Romanoff was no one’s first priority.
She never was, and she never had been.
At least not except for when she had been succeeding in the Red Room training. But even then, it had been a passing moment of sweet respite in a barren landscape characterized by bitter unappreciation and frigidity.
However, all of that had abruptly changed when Yelena had come stumbling into her life on chubby baby legs, adorable curls bouncing behind her.
Natasha had not wanted to love her from the start. She had wanted to remain cold. To remain every bit of the fledgling young widow that she was intended to be and that she had trained relentlessly to be almost since her birth.
Eight-year-old Natasha had not been one for love. She had never known what love felt like. Love had not been something that was achievable because it had never been something she could see right before her.
Victory had been attainable and concrete. It had been something she could see in the blood of other young girls. In the gnashing of their teeth and the bruises on their skin as they crawled away to lick their wounds.
However, she had never felt very victorious in those moments despite the sensation’s very real tangibility in the faces of her opponents.
With Yelena, she had to find a new way to live. A new way to function. She had to be softer and the very thought of it had terrified her.
The only thing that had pushed her to be that softer person that so deeply and inherently defied all that she had been taught was the fact that she was Yelena’s favorite.
For the first time in her entire eight years of young life, she had been wanted. Truly wanted. And she had been someone’s favorite on top of all of that. She had been valued and loved of all things, and that had been something that she was simultaneously horribly terrified of and desperately starving for all the same.
They had ended up living three heavenly years together. Yelena had received an endlessly loyal protector, and in exchange, Natasha had received all the affection, love, and devotion that she had craved all of her young life.
Yelena had truly been her baby sister as far as she was concerned. She would take no other answers. If someone loved her this much and saw her as this great of a person, this someone was undoubtedly nothing less than a sister and true family.
But then the three years were up, and Natasha had been flung back into the harsh, cold reality of her life.
She had been— once again— nobody’s first priority.
At least… To no one except for Dreykov.
But being this sort of first priority had not been the kind that Natasha wanted. It had been harsh and unforgiving in its own manner.
Victory had been tangible, but she soon had found a new sensation that was just as easily seen in its concreteness— it was submission. This one had been too tangible.
It had been seen in the visits to Dreykov’s office after she had been called upon. In the knotting of her stomach and in the sense of disgust and humiliation she had felt after the visits.
She had been someone’s first priority again, but it had not been right. It had not been the type of first priority that left her chest warm and her heart full, and honestly, if it did not give her that sort of feeling, she did not want it.
And then, her time of being the favorite had come to pay off in the ultimate ceremony. It had been made out to be a reward. The ability to become the perfect agent in every manner. The ability to perform every aspect of her duties without any consequences.
She had been stripped of her free choice, and more than that, she had been stripped of the chance to perhaps one day bring another little one in the world of her own.
Once it was done, she had reassured herself with empty platitudes that she would not have been a good mother anyway. The Red Room simply would have taken her child, perpetuating her potential daughter into the same system as she had been in or taking her potential son and throwing him to the wolf packs of politicians searching for fresh meat.
She had known that her latter reason would have likely been true, but the first part had been something that she could not exactly help but question, knowing the argument was weak in itself.
But several years passed, and Natasha had found her opportunity to escape the cycle of submission.
She had met Clint Barton and while she had been no one’s first priority in that situation for that moment at least, she had appreciated it for once.
She had realized that it was safer to not be a first priority.
It meant that there were no groping hands. It meant that there were no funerals disguised as ceremonies. It meant that there was no heartbreak. No attachment. No hearts on the line. Nothing.
But then she had joined SHIELD and she had found herself partnering with Barton.
And then she had become a first priority again. At least in the field.
But she could handle that. It had been like being assigned with other widows. It was not uncommon to be unified in terms of being a team and having each other’s backs. That is, if the other widow was of high value in Dreykov’s eyes. He sometimes sent younger, less experienced widows with Natasha on missions, and she was specifically assigned not to interfere if unfortunate events transpired.
So she and Clint had become a team and he was a high value partner, so she did her best to keep him alive. She had his back and he had hers, and it was a strangely well-matched partnership despite the fact that she knew as well as him that she was the most skilled.
However, when it turned into something pertaining to actual value in their lives outside of simply just the fighting portions of missions…
It had scared her. She had been terrified at first that he would try something with her.
After all, Natasha had well-learned the ways of men. They were kind and gentle and sweet and full of compliments until they wanted something. Then they took and took with all of the roughness of bear claws attacking and ripping at the skin while she was expected to simply submit. Or even encourage it despite the sickness in the pit of her stomach and the numbness of her mind.
The first time he had placed his hand on her shoulder, congratulating her, she had instantly stiffened, terrified that it was going to lead to something far less innocent. He had been confused and he had looked at her with such a genuine horror when she had hinted at the idea that she was taken aback at his reaction.
It was at that point that she felt that maybe not all men were horrid human beings. She eventually even grew to trust him in a way that transcended merely missions. They began to talk more frequently about things that were not just related to work.
For the first time since Yelena, she felt that maybe she was becoming a first priority in a way that maybe was not altogether horrifying. Natasha grew to enjoy his teasing, his kind smiles, and his occasional touches to her shoulders or upper back. He was kind to her, and while she was not used to it, she grew to love it all the same.
But then she found out he had a family, and something within her was a bit hurt at the knowledge, despite the fact that she had never wanted any sort of romantic relationship with him or anything of the sort. She had merely thought that it was only them and that they were the only important people in each other’s respective worlds.
When he had invited her to come to his home, she had been hesitant, but she was quick to agree despite her reservations. She did not want him to forsake her because she would not do this for him. They had grown close, and Clint was one of the only people in her world outside of Nick Fury. But Fury and her had a strange relationship.
The day finally arrived that she came to meet his lovely wife and amazing kids. Laura was very kind to her, but of course, Natasha would have expected nothing less. She was married to the only fully trustworthy man that Natasha had ever known, so she naturally must have been a wonderful, deserving woman.
But where Natasha’s heart truly softened was with Young Cooper and little Lila.
She had started off somewhat afraid of them. She had not been around children— or at least innocent children like these— since Yelena. However, her reservations had quickly melted away with the first time that Lila had crawled over to her, looked up at her in such a way that reminded her so closely of Yelena, and had grabbed her leg where she was sitting on the couch. She had picked her up, and when the baby touched her cheeks softly, all of her walls crashed to the ground.
It was with them that she realized she was capable of true softness and at least some semblance of humanity. She let them do whatever they wanted with her, her heart almost instantly falling into their small hands. Lila would play with makeup and fix her face, and she would go rock and flower-collecting with Cooper. She never argued with them or protested against their many frivolous whims, and Clint actually even had to try to convince her to actually put her foot down when it was something that Natasha did not want to do.
But she wanted to do everything with them.
Natasha could easily see that she was not first priority with anyone there, but Clint did not make her feel any less important despite the fact that she knew her boundaries. Clint had allowed her this piece of his world, and she was honestly thankful to have any shred she could get. It was something that made her feel almost like she did when she had her first “family.”
As time went on, the Avengers eventually assembled, and it was with them that she had a work family. It was not perfect, and it was truthfully oftentimes a disaster, but she still loved them. It was another piece that she was trying to rely on to put together the puzzle of her broken heart. Despite teasing them often, she loved the boys. She would help anywhere she could, and she was always around at the tower when she was not on missions for Fury. She did all that she could to keep them together and keep them happy.
But Natasha was not a first priority. Oftentimes, she was not even a second one with the Avengers. So when she fought to keep them together, they fell apart anyway.
That was one of the lowest moments in her life.
She was alone and on the run. She was an enemy of the United States and isolated from all the people she cared about. She had nothing and no one except for professional contacts.
But that was when she received her package, several photos being the clue to precisely who was contacting her. It was then that she ran into Yelena again for the first time since they were pulled apart as children so many years ago.
When Natasha had first seen Yelena on the other end of her handgun, she had felt like her heart might stop. Even though the years had hardened her into a murderous, fully-grown lethal weapon, Yelena had still grown into a gorgeous young woman. In fact, one of Natasha’s first thoughts had been that Yelena had never quite managed to grow out of those chubby cheeks.
However, after all of the pain and all of the long-suffering she had endured over the past several years, she was scared to allow herself attachment to Yelena. Yelena was crass yet honest, and it was clear that she was angry with Natasha. Yelena was also attached to her even still. The anger was only a further indicator of that attachment.
But it was easier for Natasha to put that thought away into a far, dusty corner of her mind so that she did not have to put a great deal of consideration into it. Natasha was angry enough with herself as it was. She was angry that she had not been able to do anything and that she had somehow managed to allow the woman that was once her sister to keep being abused by the organization that Natasha thought she had destroyed.
However, it was much easier to be irritable in general and with Yelena than it was to stop and consider Yelena’s attachment to her despite all of Natasha’s failings. Natasha stopped to sufficiently hate herself at night, trying with everything she had to avoid chaining herself to the bed as she silently cried over everything that had happened to her and how alone she felt.
The worst part about the entire thing was that she wanted Yelena to love her. To keep that attachment. Despite the fact that Natasha hated herself and felt that Yelena should hate her as well, she was still so selfish that she could not push Yelena away to make her hate her.
It was best for Yelena to hate her, after all.
Natasha was beginning to come to the conclusion that she was not loveable. Everyone she had forsook her or never took her as a first priority. She was never going to have someone that saw her as their most important person.
But it was when Yelena selflessly sacrificed herself to kill Dreykov that Natasha realized she could not do it. She did not have it in her to make Yelena hate her or to push her away any longer. Something in her broke as she leapt after Yelena, freefalling, with the only thought in her mind being that she had to save her baby sister. She could not let her die.
After fighting Antonia, Natasha had been so scared when she saw Yelena lying on the ground, the parachute having brought her down safely but Yelena still somehow being unconscious.
And when those beautiful honey-green eyes opened to meet her own light greens, she broke down and told her what she should have said as soon as she saw her. Natasha dropped her guard and gave into the hurt, the need, and the love in her heart as she confessed the truth and her broken apology.
Yelena had looked at her with such astonishment, such raw honesty, such pain, and such adoration that Natasha did not even know how to respond. She just looked at her, and when Yelena brought her forehead to her own, clambering into her as she initiated the best hug of Natasha’s life, Natasha grabbed on tight with no desire to ever let go.
Yelena had whispered a soft thank you in her ear, but Natasha knew that she should be the one thanking Yelena.
She finally had her person in her arms. And Natasha Romanoff was Yelena Belova’s first priority.
She always was and she always would be.

Hii, I’m looking for a fic where Tony is looking after Peter and something happens that causes him to run away to the Barton’s and the son tries to hide peter but clint knows he’s there. I think there was also a part where one of the barton kids accidentally shot peter with an arrow whilst tony and peter were visiting. Thanks!!
Here you go! Enjoy!
in case you wanted to skip ahead and just read those parts, the arrow scene is in Chapter 14 and Peter running away starts in Chapter 25.
A Peter Parker Problem by spagbol99
Peter Parker was back from the dead. At least that is what everybody told him. He'd been snapped out of existence until some sort of time travel and an active death wish by his mentor had saved him and the universe. Just your average sort of life for a 16 year old from Queens.  Peter comes back to find May has a husband and a kid. A new family he has to fit into. But he has done it before, he can do it again. The only thing that feels solid is Tony: the Blip and fatherhood have mellowed him and Peter loves the bond they have now. He knows Tony would be there for him through anything. But Tony needs to focus on his own recovery - not small time Peter Parker problems. When things at home take a turn for the worse, Peter decides that he'll handle it himself. He is Spider-man. He's been to space and fought aliens. He can get through anything. After all, if May is happy, he is happy, right? Right?

Kate: It must have been really rough for you.
Laura: What was, honey?
Kate: Finding out about the horrible things Clint did during these five years.
Laura: *nervously glances to the side, six Hydra corpses buried under her flower garden*
Laura: Yes, tragic.

@broken--bow my dear one, words cannot thank you for everything. How I wish they could. From your brain to my words. I hope I did it justice.
look at the stars. look how they shine.
Warnings: children witnessing dissociation, dissociation, grief. I swore I wouldn’t write endgame - but this is endgame with no death - snap happened but no one died.

Summary: Nathaniel and Clint build a marble run. (3k)
.
Nate yawns.
The Saturday morning makes him grin as he sits up in bed and pads out of his room to find his parents.
Saturday sounds already in the kitchen, and he finds his mum and sister already awake and eating.
“Hey sleepy,” his mum greets him with a kiss on the forehead.
He smiles at her and sits at the table, watching his sister draw arrows and people, Nate steals a pencil to help her.
“Nate, no!” she groans as he starts to colour in.
“Hey buddy, come sit over here,” his mum guides, and he frowns, wanting to draw.
He moves down the bench seat, and twirls the pencil, the green colour moulding as it spins.
He does it again, before it flies out of his hand and hits Lila.
“Nate!” she exclaims, exasperated.
His mum looks at him, with the look she gets when he’s not quite in trouble, but on his way there.
He frowns.
“Come grab some pancakes.”
He’s guided to the bench again, and he picks up two, opting for chocolate syrup and sugar.
He gets strawberries thrown on his plate and he goes back to sit down, away from Lila who still seems annoyed at him.
He didn’t mean to.
He wanted to help.
“Where’s dad?”
“Soccer with Cooper,” Lila answers, “they’ll be back soon, cause mum needs to take us to Max’s birthday party and then she’s going to get —“
Nate’s stomach curls in jealousy.
“I want to come,” he says, his mum wondering over.
“Oh honey, it’s Max’s birthday, it’s for Lila and Cooper.”
He stands, pushing out his chair and pushing away his breakfast.
“Why can’t I go with you?”
“Because you weren’t invited,” Lila says, standing up, her voice loud.
“That’s not fair, I can go too, I know Max,” he argues.
“But you weren’t invited,” Lila argues back.
Nate crosses his arms.
His mum seems to see it coming, he bangs his fist on the table and tries to step forward to Lila. He’s done nothing right since he woke up, it doesn’t matter, he feels like he’s in trouble anyway.
He reaches out to push Lila, only to be stopped.
“Nate, stop.”
The boundary is clear and he pulls himself back.
“I didn’t even want to go,” he says, sticking his tongue out to stop tears as he runs away.
He hates being the youngest, the one who always gets left out.
He heads back to his bedroom and sits on his bed, kicking his Lego breaking it apart.
No one comes after him, and he thinks his mum must have taken Lila’s side.
Anger burns in him as he looks around his room.
It’s not fair.
He did want to go.
Doesn’t Max like him too?
He slows his body down, just like his dad taught him, taking a deep breath and squats to put his Lego back together.
It’s not the same.
A small knock on the door reveals both his mum and dad and immediately he feels like he’s in trouble.
“I’m sorry,” he starts, looking to them both.
“Oh buddy; it’s okay, it sucks that you can’t come too, but this is just for Lila and Cooper,” his mum starts.
“Plus, you and I get to hang together!” his dad finishes.
He brightens at that.
He feels he never gets to spend time just the two of them.
He goes to his cupboard and drags out a marble run he’s been dying to put together, but no one had wanted to do it with him.
His dad nods and smiles.
“Come down and say goodbye to Mum and the others, and then we’ll build it, bigger than any we’ve built before.”
Nate grins.
“Deal,” he says, high fiving his dad as hard as he can.
He acts predictably and shakes his hand out and then offers his hands behind him and Nate high fives him again; following him down the stairs.
Saying goodbye to the others is easy and his dad drags out the marble run.
Nate watches him and copies putting pieces together, careful in testing his favourite blue marble to make sure all the pieces were aligned and working.
Gently, he add the last piece, climbing on the chair and then carefully let’s his marble fly.
“It works!!!” he yells in glee, then turns around waiting to be told to be quieter. It doesn’t come, instead his dad whoops with him and they hug as Nate looks at the box of marbles grinning in anticipation.
“Can we..”
His dad laughs.
“Let’s put them all down!”
Dragging the box over, he looks at them and finds the colours he likes.
Blue.
Red.
Green.
Yellow.
The colours standing out against the clear ones.
“We can take turns,” Nate says generously.
He puts the blue one down and then hands his dad a red one.
He loves the sounds of it rolling.
“Can you hear it, dad? Can you hear it?”
His dad shakes his head but signs that he can see it.
Nate frowns.
He drags his dads hand over to the run, and pushes it on. He does the same with his hand and let’s the green one fly.
“I can feel it,” his dad smiles.
Nate grins.
Pushing the yellow marble into his dad’s hand, he looks away for a second to get more.
He doesn’t hear the click clack of the marble go down and he turns back around.
Nate freezes.
His dad is frozen too.
Fear and pain on his face.
At least that’s what he thinks it is.
“Dad?” he tries, his stomach dropping.
“Daddy?”
It’s clear he can’t hear him.
“Dad?” he tries again.
He’s staring at the yellow marble.
Nate tries to take it away, but the result is his father pulling away, closing his hand over it and dropping to his knees.
“No…” he hears him say, his voice angry and quiet.
“It’s okay, Dad,” he whispers.
He’s not sure what to do.
The world feels dark and his dad isn’t feeling well.
He thinks it’s his fault.
“I’m just going to call Mum, okay?”
Leaving the room, he stares momentarily at his father, his eyes still on the yellow marble as he touches it.
It’s like he can’t hear him.
The phone is where it always is.
Nate presses the buttons, just like Aunty Nat taught him so long ago.
“Mum!?”
He hears her pick up, but she doesn’t say anything.
“Mum??”
“Nate?”
It’s Cooper.
He doesn’t want Cooper.
“Get mum,” he asks, moving back to find his father in exactly the same position.
“I heard you were making trouble this morning,” Cooper laughs at him.
“Please, get Mum,” he asks again, on the verge of tears.
There’s something in his voice that makes Cooper hand the phone over.
His mum’s voice pushes him over the edge.
“Nate? Are you okay?”
He feels the first tear fall.
“Dad’s not… he’s stuck,” he gets out, trying to take a deep breath and then sits next to his fathers inert body.
“Dad?”
There’s no response.
“Hang on.”
He hears her say something to his siblings then her attention seems to come back to him. Slowly he reaches out to touch his father.
A finger.
Then another.
His dad is crying and he can’t help.
“It’s okay, Dad, I’m sorry,” he whispers.
“Nate? Are you okay?”
He puts his mum on speaker phone.
“Can you talk to Dad? He’s not talking. He’s crying..”
She’s silent.
“Am I on speakerphone?”
He nods.
“Nate?”
“Um, yes, he doesn’t have his ears in though.”
He watches his father carefully.
The marble still sitting in his palm.
“Daddy? Mum’s here. It’s okay, okay? I’m sorry,” he says, pushing the phone closer.
“Clint?”
Nate doesn’t listen to the start, he pushes the marble run away. It’s joy is gone.
He watches his father sit back at the sound of his mother’s voice.
He hears her talking.
He sits back down next to his father and draws on his hand, just like his dad usually does for him when he doesn’t feel well.
“Nate? Are you there sweetie?”
He nods.
His dad seems to be waking up, or coming back, it’s slow but there’s some signs of life.
“Nate?”
“Yeah, Mum, I’m here.”
“Are you okay?” she’s worried, he can hear it.
“I’m okay, I think… I think it’s my fault.”
“Nate, this isn’t you’re fault okay? Do you remember that Thanksgiving when Aunty Nat was here and she seemed to freeze at dinner? And you noticed, and told us she wasn’t feeling well?”
He nods. He remembers.
“But Dad already knew, he was already helping her,” he argues quietly.
“I know, but you’re going to help Dad until we get there, okay? We are on the way home.”
Nate nods.
“Can you open the window? Get a breeze in. Grab your drink bottle and see if Dad wants any, okay?”
Nate gets up and follows his mum’s ideas.
His bottle is next to the bag of marbles and again, he feels guilty.
“It’s my fault,” he says, voice shaking. “I gave him a yellow one.”
He doesn’t know the significance, but Copper was right. He made trouble. He couldn’t help it. It’s all his fault.
“It’s not your fault,” he hears his dad say.
His voice is quite and he pats the spot next to him.
“Sit with me,” he croaks, his eyes unfocused and hands shaking.
Nate obeys.
“I’m sorry, Dad,” he cries.
“Nate, Clint, we’re almost home, you’re going to hear the car.”
He does, the wheels on gravel and the heaviness in the air.
He feels the difference in the world.
Drawing on his father’s hand, he can’t look up at him. He doesn’t want to see his dad cry.
He also doesn’t want his dad to see him cry.
Nate hears the front door, the slow climb of his mum’s feet up the stairs.
The door opens slowly, but it’s not his mum through the door first.
“Natasha?”
His dad’s voice is still croaky, but there’s some movement in his body.
Nate rises with him, holding onto his hand.
Aunty Nat and his mum enter his room, and immediately he feels better.
There’s some else here to help.
They’re going to help his dad.
The three adults move to Nate’s bed, quiet voices speaking words that he doesn’t care to listen to. He doesn’t really want to stay either.
Leaving the room, he takes on last look at his mum holding his dad’s hand and Natasha holding his face in her hands.
It seems almost intrusive to be there.
Adult business.
Nate leaves.
Uncomfortableness in his guts as he feels unsure of what to do next.
He plods down the stairs to get some water, the snap changed everything. Everyone was different.
Everyone felt sad all the time.
His dad, his tattoos, his siblings, even his mum who was snapped with them.
He doesn’t know.
He doesn’t understand.
Nate fixes his laces, then heads outside to the swings.
Wishing that he’d been able to go Max’s birthday, he lets himself cry as he swings.
It’s moments before his mum comes out to him, and sits on the swing next to him.
“Hey buddy,” she opens.
“Scary seeing Dad like that, huh?”
Nate nods but doesn’t answer.
“He’s seen a lot of things that make him feel sad lately. It looks like you guys were building a pretty cool marble run.”
He takes a deep breath.
“We were going to take a photo to show Uncle Tony. Dad said he’d like it, you know, while he recovers.”
He thinks back.
“It’s my fault, I gave him the yellow marble,” he confesses with a hiccup.
His mum stands, and then stands in front of where he’s swinging, stopping him and crouching so she’s at his level.
“Sweetheart. That is not your fault. You are not responsible for your dad’s reactions okay?”
She doesn’t let him swing, even though he can’t look at her.
“Do you remember, we talked about somethings that make Aunty Nat sad? That there are some times that remind her of something she doesn’t want to think about? Dad has that too, sometimes he’s better able to hide it from you guys, but today, the yellow marble reminded him of something he wasn’t ready for.”
Nate finally looks at her.
“What?”
She looks to the ground.
“There was a mission to get us all back, do you remember Dad talking about it? He got to go to outer space, yeah?”
Nate nods.
He likes the story of the spaceship in outer space, with Rocket the Raccoon and the search for the stones to bring everyone back.
He digs his feet into the dirt.
“Was it something in outer space?”
His mum nods.
“There was something your Dad and Aunty Nat had to find, but to find it, they had to do something dangerous.”
Nate narrows his eyes.
“How dangerous?”
His mum swallows.
“Aunty Nat, technically… she died… so they could find it.”
His mum stands, and moves back to the swing.
“But mum, Aunt Nat is here, you went to pick her up?”
The swing in silence for a bit, and Nate watches the shadows of people in his room.
It seems his dad is more mobile, and Aunty Nat is helping.
She’s not dead.
“I know, but your dad didn’t know that when Tony brought everyone back, that she’d come back too. The yellow marble… it reminds him that she was gone for a bit.”
Nate nods.
He understands.
He does.
Sometimes he feels sad too, that he doesn’t know what to do with himself.
He sees Natasha and his dad enter the kitchen and he hops off the swing.
“Can I go apologise to him?” he asks, “tell him I didn’t mean it?”
His mum stands and gives him a big bone crushing hug .
“You have nothing to apologise for, okay? This is not your fault. None of this is your fault.”
She kisses him on the top of his head and they walk hand in hand back to the house.
“Mum?” he sighs heavily.
“Do you think Dad will want to play with me again?”
His mum looks down and smiles.
“I know he will.”
Nate enters cautiously, moving slowly, and looks for his dad who’s now making tea in the kitchen.
“Nate,” he greets, “I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”
He opens his arms and Nate hugs him readily.
He was so worried.
His dad, though still moving slowly, feels better, the world feels better. He lets himself get picked up and he revels in the constant touch and reconnection.
“Some chocolate milk?”
Nate nods.
“For me too?”
He grins at his aunt. Hopping down he hugs her too.
She feels different, somehow; than before the snap, and he doesn’t ask about the scaring on her fingers and how it travels up her arms.
It doesn’t feel polite.
Maybe his dad will tell him the story of Natasha’s scars and his own tattoos one day. Maybe he’ll request it as a bedtime story.
Instead he lets himself be dragged to the table, where Natasha seats herself next to him and they watch his dad make the hot chocolate.
“I’ve got to go pick up the others,” his mum calls and Nate nods and waves.
She kisses him, then Nat and then his Dad and leaves them all in the Kitchen.
“Dad tells me you made a cool marble run,” Natasha starts, and Nate shrugs. He wants to pull it apart and never play with it again.
“It’s so big and intricate,” his Dad calls, stirring drinks.
“Should we show Nat after this?”
Nate feels hesitant.
He’s proud of what they did.
But he doesn’t want to repeat what happened.
Leaving abruptly, he runs to to his room.
Yellow marbles.
He finds the bag and pulls them out, sorting them all into colours.
A knock at the door and his dad calls his name, maybe in worry as he tells him to hold on.
He does it quickly and systematically until he finds all the yellow and puts them into their own bag.
Maybe now they can play.
He opens the door to find both adults standing there - hot chocolate in hand, and he opens it wider to let them in.
“I put them away,” he tells them.
“You put what away?”
Natasha is always quicker.
“Yellow marbles?”
“You don’t have to worry about it when we play now, it won’t make you… sad.”
He gets another hug, this time sandwiched in between two bodies.
Nate grins. He likes doing right by people.
It’s how the others find them; sitting in the bedroom playing, rotating and putting marbles down the run, moving bits and making it bigger in some sections and smaller in others.
Til dinner they play and nothing happens.
He continually checks, making sure that his Dad or Aunty Nat don’t go anywhere.
They talk of nothing and lots of things.
His dad leaves to help his mum with dinner.
Lila joins them and then Cooper.
Nate feels the day pass and even though it started as a no good kind of day, he feels like it got better.
He tells Natasha, as he lays on his bed with her, watching Cooper change the marble run to be something else.
“I have days like that too,” she tells him.
“Not every day has to be all good.”
He nods.
She’s so warm and safe that he closes his eyes to the click clack of the marbles rolling.

Chapter 5: Avengers: Age of Ultron - Two Ghosts
Tumblr media
Part 6:
The Quinjet landed on the grass field, near the Barton house. I glanced at Natasha, looking for any sign that she would need me to be by her side. Her eyes found mine as the ramp was let down and I took that as a yes. Walked up to her and held a hand out for her which she took after a little hesitation. “It’s just the Bartons, it’s okay,” I said and she nodded.
We all made our way towards the house and once we stepped in, I let all my worries go. “Honey? I’m home,” Clint called out and the next second a very pregnant Laura came into view. I looked at the guys and I’m glad I didn’t miss those faces. “Hi. Company. Sorry I didn't call ahead,” they shared a quick kiss and he stood by his wife. “This is an agent of some kind,” I could hear Dad murmuring to Thor and I chuckled and even saw a little smile on Natasha’s face too. “Gentleman, this is Laura,” Clint introduced his wife. “ I know all your names,” she said shyly and the four men stood there awkwardly not even knowing how to deal with the situation.
Suddenly we heard footsteps on the stairs. One more surprise I guess. “Ooh, incoming,” Clint said and Lila and Cooper ran in, with Katarina close behind. She looked through everyone’s face and then she spotted me. The sparks in her eyes were something I would never get used to. She ran over to me with her little legs and I was quick to pick her up, hugging her close. “Hi, baby! I missed you,” I kissed the side of her head and she pulled back and immediately looked at Natasha.
Her face lit up like I’ve never seen before, wiggling in my arms and forcing me to hand her to the redhead. Natasha gladly took Katarina into her arms and with a big sigh she hugged her. “I missed you, Bean. How’s my best girl, huh?” She asked and Rina was quick to tell her about everything and more. “Did you bring Auntie Nat and Auntie Y/n?” Heard Lila ask and I glanced at them. “Why don't you hug her and find out?” Natasha said with a big smile and the two rushed over, Lila hugging Nat while she was still holding Katarina and Cooper hugging me. She was hiding all this pain so effortlessly.
“Sorry for barging in on you,” Steve said politely. “Yeah, we would have called ahead, but we were busy having no idea that you existed,” Dad said. “You’re just jealous you didn’t know,” I stepped in and he just scoffed. “Yeah, well Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off SHIELD's files, I'd like to keep it that way. I figure it's a good place to lay low,” Clint explained.
“Honey, I missed you,” said Laura as Natasha and I stepped away with her. “How's little Natasha, huh?” Nat gently put her hands on Laura’s stomach, having a big smile on her face. “She's…Nathaniel,” Laura broke the news and the redhead’s smile dropped. She bent down to Barton’s very pregnant stomach. “Traitor.” I chuckled at her face. “You did not just do that?” I asked. “She was supposed to be Natasha,” she said, actually upset about the fact that there would be no Natasha Barton, only Nathaniel. “One Natasha is perfectly enough, right Laura?” I looked at the woman and with a hesitant smile she nodded. “Okay, this is abuse.”
***
“So… how are things?” Laura asked with a knowing look. “What things? Be more specific please,” I moved over in the kitchen as I made dinner for all of us. She had done more than she should’ve already. “With Natasha.” “She took a big hit. There was this woman, more like a girl to be honest… She was showing them their biggest fears I guess, but close to something like that, and she’s shaken up pretty bad. And I just helped her a little, that’s all.” “And you?” She asked from over the counter. “I’m fine, just a couple of bruises, she’s not able to get through me.” “How are things with her though?” I took a glance at Laura and cleared my throat. “It’s uhm… I don’t know. It’s very confusing, especially with how we talked now. At the party we were literally going for each other’s throat, it was disgusting. So I don’t know.”
After I finished dinner I thought I could play a little with the kids, so we went outside and kicked the ball around for a while then Steve walked up to us. “Got room for one more player?” He asked. I saw him and my dad having a heated conversation just before he got there, so I didn’t know what to expect. “Will you be on my team?” Katarina signed to him. “What did she say?” Steve turned to me. “She asked if you’d be on her team.” He looked at my daughter and smiled. “I wouldn’t be on anybody else’s team,” he said and Katarina smiled before she ran off to Coop and Lila, basically ignoring Steve and me immediately. “Well, you were benched pretty quickly,” I shrugged and he just chuckled.
We watched as they played for a couple of minutes. They were playing around so innocently and naively, not even knowing that their parents were fighting with a huge metal robot. “Do you want kids?” I turned to Steve. He put his hands in his pockets while letting out a heavy sigh. “I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it. And my options are not that broad either,” he said. “You’re always in a war, I don’t know how you do that,” I looked at Katarina and all I could think was if there was no war, she wouldn’t be here. At least not yet.
“Someone has to. Besides, I don’t have much to do other than fighting,” he sat down in the grass and I joined him. “If you could, and that’s a big if… Would you go back? Before the ice? Maybe even the serum?”
I could tell he was hesitant but then a small smile crept its way onto his face. “Not before the serum, but the ice… that’s something I wished for very long now. But I don’t know… I have people here now,” he glanced at me before continuing. “But back then I had too. It’s scary you know… I don’t know how things would’ve turned out if I didn’t go under. Getting married and settling down after the war, that was something I could see myself doing. It would’ve been nice.” Steve looked into the distance and I just knew he was imagining that perfect life for himself.
***
By the time everyone finished with their shower and getting cleaned up, it got dark. Of course, Fury showed up from out of nowhere, and after dinner, we had a quick meeting.
I sat at the table, Katarina in my lap slightly dozing off with Natasha a couple of seats away, Steve was standing between the dining room and the living room, Bruce lingering a few steps behind Natasha while Fury was talking from the kitchen. Laura, Clint, and the kids were hanging around the couch. And Dad was playing darts. He’s so weird.
“Ultron took you folks out of play to buy himself time. My contacts all say he's building something. The amount of Vibranium he made off with, I don't think it's just one thing,” Fury explained. “What about Ultron himself?” Asked Steve. “Ah. He's easy to track, he's everywhere. Guy's multiplying faster than a Catholic rabbit. Still doesn't help us get an angle on any of his plans though.” “He still going after launch codes?” I looked at Fury as he poured himself a glass of lemonade. “Yes, he is, but he's not making any headway.” “I cracked the Pentagon's firewall in high school on a dare,” Dad chimed in. “Show off,” I mumbled. “Yeah, well, I contacted our friends at the NEXUS about that,” said Fury. “NEXUS?” Asked in a confused tone, Steve. “It's the world internet hub in Oslo, every byte of data flows through there, fastest access on earth,” I explained. “So what'd they say?” Joined Clint. “He's fixated on the missiles, but the codes are constantly being changed.” “By whom?” I asked. “Parties unknown.” “Do we have an ally?” Spoke for the first time Natasha. “Ultron's got an enemy, that's not the same thing. Still, I'd pay folding money to know who it is.” “We might need to visit Oslo, find our "unknown,”” Dad looked at me and I shrugged.
“Well, this is good times, boss, but I was kind of hoping when I saw you, you'd have more than that,” Natasha sighed and Fury walked over. “I do, I have you. Back in the day, I had eyes everywhere, ears everywhere else. Here we all are, back on earth, with nothing but our wit, and our will to save the world. So stand. Outwit the platinum bastard,” Fury sat down and I could immediately see Natasha’s face change. “Steve doesn't like that kind of talk,” she said with a smirk and I covered up my smile by taking a sip of my tea. “You know what, Romanoff?”
“So what does he want?” Asked Nick. “To become better. Better than us. He keeps building bodies,” his face looks so funny. “Person bodies. The human form is inefficient, biologically speaking, we're outmoded. But he keeps coming back to it,” I explained and stood up with a sleeping Katarina in my arms. “When you two programmed him to protect the human race, you amazingly failed,” Natasha looked between Banner and Dad. “They don't need to be protected, they need to evolve. Ultron's going to evolve,” said Bruce, completely ignoring the shade he just received from his alleged girlfriend. “How?” “Has anyone been in contact with Helen Cho?” I cleared my throat, looking at everyone in the room.
We discussed a few more things then I thought it was time to put Katarina down, along with Coop and Lila. I walked to the living room where the kids were almost asleep on the couch, lying on each side of Laura. “Let’s go to bed guys,” I held out my free hand and Lila was quick to take it and Cooper followed behind. “Did you guys have fun today?” I asked the two. “Yeah, but I just want to sleep now,” said Lila. “How about once I finish my project at work, you two come over to mine for a weekend, huh? Have a fun time with your best Auntie,” I suggested and a huge smile sat on both their faces. “That would be awesome.”
First I put Katarina in bed since she was already asleep. With a soft kiss on her head, I went to Coop’s room and after a quick goodnight, he was fast asleep. After closing the door, I went back to Lila’s room and saw her sitting on her bed.
“I thought you were very tired missy,” I said quietly as I sat on the edge of her bed. “Why are you not coming over when Auntie Natasha is here? I miss having both of you here.” Her words cut deep not gonna lie. The topic hasn’t come up yet, at least not with me, and I didn’t know what to say suddenly.
“Why don’t you get under the covers first?” I suggested, pulling the duvet away so she could lie down. I tucked her in and she looked at me with big eyes, waiting for the story. It’s kind of a depressing bedtime story.
“You know that your Auntie Nat and I dated for a while, right?” I asked and Lila nodded with a small smile. She’s so cute. “And sometimes people who date don’t always agree on things and if that becomes too much at some point, they sometimes decide to not date each other anymore. Your Auntie Nat and I decided that it would be better for her and me too, if we don’t date anymore. It’s healthier for the both of us,” I tried to explain as much as I could to a kid. “But I like you and not that man,” she said. That man? “The man with the weird glasses, I don’t remember his name.” “Oh, Bruce. Well…”, me neither girl. “If Auntie Natasha is happy with Bruce, then we should be happy for her.” I’m so mature, gosh! I should give lessons about this. “She hasn't visited us as much since you and she broke up. We miss her,” she said with a sad look on her face. “I’ll talk to her, okay? And we will visit you together maybe,” I gave her a reassuring smile and Lila yawned. “Now go to sleep, honey,” I gave a kiss to her head and stood up. “Good night!” I whispered and she didn’t say it back, I suppose she fell asleep in literally a second.
Carefully closing the door, I noticed everyone had gone to their room, but I heard noises from the kitchen. Peaking in I saw the flash of red hair. She was cleaning the kitchen. As I stepped closer she turned around. “Are they asleep?” She asked, turning back to put away the freshly cleaned plates. “Yup.” I leaned my hip to the counter and stared out the window. “Do you think we’ll get Ultron?” I asked. The tap stopped running. Natasha dried her hands and turned around. “Why wouldn’t we?” She shrugged. “I don’t know… With the internet and all our database in his hands… It’s gonna be a tricky one,” I hopped on the counter with a sigh. “It’s gonna be no different from every other mission, except this came from two genius men… oh wait, usually that’s the case,” she tilted her head and I chuckled.
Silence fell on the room. Natasha kept her eyes on the towel in her hands, and I stared at my dangling legs. “Lila said you don’t visit much since we broke up. She misses you, Cooper, too. I just had to explain to her what a breakup is, so… I told her I’d talk to you,” I said, looking up slightly scared of her reaction. “I told her to ask you, you’re better with words. I didn’t know what to say to her. So thanks for that,” she was embarrassed, she could barely look at me. “It’s fine.”
“So Steve, huh? Never seen that coming…” Natasha set her eyes on me with a very fake smirk pulling in her goddamn perfect lips. I’m not supposed to like them anymore.
“It’s nothing. It was a one-time thing, we just have great conversations honestly.” And I truly think that. It was all fun and hot, but we both knew nothing good would come out of that situation. I could tell she was trying really hard to catch me lying but she didn’t succeed.
“Was he good?” She asked from out of nowhere and I looked so swiftly at her that I think my eyes almost fell out of their place. The mischief in her eyes was something I think will never fade. She’s just so teasing with her words, it’s fascinating to see. “Natalia, that’s not nice,” I said with a small whine, knowing she had so many questions about this. “You’re way too curious,” I mumble. “Was he good? That’s all I asked,” she held up her hands defensively. “Good. Nothing crazy,” I simply said.
That smug look on her face gosh! She’s just horrible. The smirk, the look, and the way she’s just standing there with her arms crossed. Damn, no wonder we dated.
“I’m not gonna say what you want me to say,” I chuckled and got off the counter. “You said no reading minds,” Natasha complained. “Even a dumb person would know what you’re thinking, I didn’t have to do a thing,” I grabbed a glass out of a cabinet and poured myself water.
I could feel that Natasha slowly edged her way closer and closer to where I was standing. Her arms fell to her side, breathing slowed down. She’s doing the thing.
I carefully put the cup aside and glanced at her but as soon as I looked into her eyes I wasn’t able to move.
“But I’m right though,” she said, keeping the smugness. “You’d like to think you’re always right, don’t you?” I kept looking between her eyes, killing myself by fighting the urge to not look down on her lips.
The tension was crazy. She was just inches away, probably the closest we’ve been for months. This emotional rollercoaster of what we’ve been doing to each other lately is horrendous.
“Are you flirting or starting a fight?” The words fell off her lips effortlessly and delicately. I looked. I looked and I couldn’t stop.
“Why are you fighting it?” Natasha whispered, our lips almost touching. Her fingers gently climbed onto my hand, intertwining hers with mine. She slipped behind me, putting her hands on my waist. And I just didn’t know what my next move should be.

Tickle Traditions
Request: Can I request a Clint x family x Kate fic, maybe it’s set when Kate comes home with Clint for Christmas and she learns all about their traditions specifically their Christmas tickle fight? 🥰 (if you don’t want to write this prompt that’s totally ok!! Xo)
Note: To the person who sent this prompt, I am so sorry it took so long to get to. However, I think this was a good time to write it! It was a really cute prompt, and I hope you enjoy! Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!
Word Count: 1077
---------------------------------------------------------
It was cold and snowing outside, as a familiar car pulled up in front of the Barton household. Kate hopped out of the passenger side, helping Clint unload all the gifts for his family.
“So where’s my present?” Kate asked jokingly.
“Me bringing you here is already a gift,” Clint replied, knowing that by now Kate understood his sarcasm and snarkiness.
Kate smiled to herself, eager to spend Christmas with the Bartons for the first time in a while.
“Hello Kate, it’s so nice to see you again,” Laura said sincerely, opening the door for the two archers.
“DADDY!” Nate cried out, running over to hug his father. Clint set the presents down and picked up his youngest son, who was giggling with excitement.
Cooper and Lila came over, both giving Kate and Clint hugs.
After the hugs and greetings, they all sat down in the family room, drinking hot coco.
“So Kate, I know you haven’t been here for many Christmases, so I haven’t been able to teach you all of our traditions,” Clint said, breaking the silence.
“I’d love to learn all of your traditions!” Kate said excitedly.
“We like to build snowmen!” Nate cheered excitedly.
“No, the best part is the snowball fight!” Cooper chimed in.
“I like baking and decorating cookies the best!” Lila said, as Clint nodded in agreement.
“Me too Lila. It’s the least rowdy of them all,” Clint said, as Kate rolled her eyes playfully.
“What should we start with first? Kate, why don’t you choose?” Laura suggested.
“I think I want to start with making cookies,” Kate said, as Lila high fived her.
A few hours later, there were delicious cookies cooling down on the table. A mix of chocolate chip, sugar, and peanut butter cookies awaited. They each took a sugar cookie and began decorating it, with a variety of colored icing and sprinkles.
After decorating their own cookies, they sat down to enjoy them with glasses of milk to go with it.
“These cookies are delicious!” Nate shouted, sporting a milk mustache with crumbs on his face.
Kate giggled at the messy boy, ruffling his hair to add on to the cuteness.
After enjoying the cookies, the six of them went outside to build snowmen.
Kate made hers an archer, after herself, and was proud of her work.
“You forgot something on your snowman,” Clint said flatly.
“First of all, it’s a snowwoman. And second of all, it’s perfect,” Kate replied, turning her nose in the air.
“No, if it’s made after you then you forgot the goofy grin on its face,” Clint replied with a smirk.
“I don’t have a goofy grin!” Kate exclaimed, as she was hit in the stomach with a snowball.
“OOF!” The archer doubled over.
“Who threw that?!?” Kate questioned, with the silly, goofy grin that Clint was talking about.
“See, there it is. All you need to do is add it,” Clint said while laughing.
“Oh that’s it,” Kate said, throwing a snowball at Clint, as Cooper declared a snowball fight.
Snowballs were fired, as everyone tried their best to dodge them. Kate snuck around, hiding behind a bush, waiting for her chance.
She saw Clint was distracted, so she quickly snuck up behind him and dumped snow down his back.
“AAAHHH,” Clint yelped, as Kate quickly ran towards the kids to protect herself.
“Oh you’ve done it Kate,” Clint said, shaking his head with a smile.
“You guys are on my side, right?” Kate asked the kids.
“No!” Nate shouted bluntly.
Kate’s eyes widened, as she was then chased inside of the house, where the three kids tackled her onto the couch.
“What are you—AHAHAHAAHAHAHA,” Kate laughed, as she was now being tickled by all three Batron children.
“We forgot to tell you about our traditional Christmas tickle fight,” Lila said, as they tickled all over her upper body.
Clint eventually came inside, helping pin Kate while the kids continued to tickle her.
“NOHOHOHO THIHIHIS IHIHISN’T FAHAHAIR,” Kate yelled out.
“Hey this is on you. You put snow down my back,” Clint replied, now letting her up and temporarily having mercy.
Kate now got her revenge, tickling the kids worse than she got.
Their laughter rang out throughout the house, mixed with squeals and lots of shouting.
“Clint, you’re the only one who hasn’t been tickled,” Kate said teasingly.
Before Clint could escape, Kate and the kids pinned him, as Kate began to tickle his armpits.
“KAHAHAHTE NOHOHOHOHO,” Clint cried out, unable to squirm away, as his children were stronger than he thought.
“Awwww the big bad archer can’t handle a little tickling?” Kate asked, now tickling his stomach and sides.
Clint was lost in laughter, as Kate switched off with the kids so they could also torture him.
They eventually let him go, as he lay there panting.
Kate quickly tried to run away, but Clint caught her foot, causing her to trip and fall facing downwards.
Clint quickly pinned her, digging into her ribs and sides, causing the poor girl to squeal with laughter.
“CLIHIHIHINT STAHAHAHAHAHAP,” Kate screamed, squirming to get away unsuccessfully.
“Welcome to the family tradition!” Clint said teasingly, as Kate was still hysterically giggling and laughing.
Clint began to tickle her armpits, while the kids got her sensitive feet.
“OHOHOKAY MEHEHEHERCY PLEHEHEHEASE,” Kate cried out, as they eventually let her up.
“That was fun!” Nate said, as Clint pulled him into his lap to give him a few more tickles, making the little boy squeal with laughter.
Kate threw a playful glare at Clint, as he just shrugged.
“I think we all know Kate’s favorite Christmas tradition,” Clint said, as Kate rolled her eyes playfully.
“You’re lucky I’m nice,” Kate said, giving Clint a look of warning.
“Nice? You’re the one putting snow down my back,” Clint retorted.
Kate pouted in defeat, knowing that if she said the wrong thing, she would get tickled to pieces again.
After a few moments of silence, Kate spoke up.
“Thank you for having me over for Christmas. I really enjoyed all the traditions,” Kate said shyly.
“Anytime Kate. You’re always welcome here,” Laura responded.
“And she makes a great tickle target,” Lila teased, as Kate reached out to tickle the younger girl.
With that, round two of the traditional Christmas tickle fight resumed, filling the air with laughter. Kate knew that she had finally found her place, and Clint knew that he had just gained an extra child.

Whumptober 2023 - Day 28
"You'll have to go through me"
When he saw the cars driving up to his farm Clint’s mouth went painfully dry. He knew what it meant. They wanted one of his kids.
“Laura!” he yelled. “Hide the kids!”
Laura looked out of the window, saw the cars, too, and hurried away. After the war, when the New Order was established, every district had to send fifty children to the capital where they were raised and educated to become Elite, the administration of the New Order. Every person recognized the cars that came to drag the children away from their families. That was the day Clint built a secret bunker under one of the barns. Laura would bring the kids to it and hide there with them. No one would find them.
Clint grabbed his bow and a quiver filled with arrows and waited for them.
The three cars stopped in front of him and he nocked an arrow and aimed at the one guy that looked like the big cheese.
“Not a step further!” he growled and saw that the other men wanted to reach for their guns. “And you, keep your fingers where I can see them!”
“Mr. Barton,” the big cheese said and raised both ads to show that they were empty. “Your daughter Lila is designated as Elite.”
“No!” Clint snarled.
“Mr. Barton, listen to reason. It is…” the man said again and stopped when Clint shot an arrow only one inch before his feet into the ground, nocked an arrow in the next moment and aimed at him again.
“The next one goes through your brain,” he growled.
“Mr. Barton,” the man said and cocked his head. “You will hand over your daughter or you will have to face the consequences.”
“If you want to get to my children you’ll have to go through me,” Clint snapped.
“Well, if it’s that what you…” the man started but Clint interrupted him.
“But let me tell you about my time with the Avengers,” he said. “And let me assure you, I’m still the world's best marksman!”
“Is that so?” the man started to grin and gestured at his men. “Grabbed him. And then get the girl.”
And Clint fought…

Dear Journal… 🖊️
Tumblr media
I’m in trouble.
I promised Clint I would babysit Nate, his youngest son, so him and Laura could have a little afternoon to themselves…and I lost him.
We were in the middle of the living room, playing connect 4 and I leave to go to the bathroom for one second!
In total at the house, I got all the Barton kids, Rochelle, Luna, Rick, Liane and Rei.
Nate Barton gave me a freaking heart attack! 😭
How can somehow so cute and small disappear so fast?! Then again his middle name is named after freaking Pietro, who is Erik’s son aka Ethan and Cole’s half brother!
I made Ji-Hoon’s boyfriend Pietro for playing games and teaching the young boy all those silly tricks. #oneofthecutecouple’s according to Liane!
Anyways I come back to the room thinking I was gonna find the boy playing on his own or using his IPad instead. Nope. 🙂‍↔️
I go searching around, even asking the others if they saw him. It resulted in everyone going on a little Easter Egg Hunt for Nate because someone decided to play hide and seek, and not tell anybody.
Nate roped all the other little players into the game too, I don’t know how he did it! Riley, Dylan, The Twins and other kids were playing too.
Next thing be I know I am playing hide and seek!
And guess where I found Nathan Pietro Barton?
Guess.
He wasn’t in the kitchen.
He wasn’t in the gym area.
He wasn’t in one of the bedrooms.
He wasn’t in one of the offices.
He wasn’t in the pool!
That little boy was on the roof of the building (which is safe by the way, cause that’s where everyone has parties, watch the skyline and go out to breathe) with Kate’s dog.
Pizza Dog and Nate were on the roof wearing sunglasses, drinking juice boxes and looking at the city. I saw Natasha was up there too, taking pictures so he was safe.
When he turned around he saw me. The only thing Nate said was, “Hehe you found me! I win! We go again?”
I just faceplate at that point and shook my head chuckling.
I am getting old…

hi this is maevedarcy on ao3 and I asked you about your clintlauranat playlists the other day and I finally had time to listen to both of them and all I can say is thank you for the feels <3 I really liked both playlists but specially the addition of The Oh Hellos because they bring me such nostalgic vibes to everything and well, ClintLauraNat make me feel nostalgic for some reason. also that particular playlist goes great with more ClintLauraNat fics, let me tell you
oh my god HI yes I am still having an oh hellos related clint/nat/laura crisis, particularly over hello my old heart because it feels specifically targetted towards them but also the person I was when I first started loving this ship if that makes any sense?? and their music perfectly fits the ~vibes~ of it all. it's early evening walks on the farm and natasha in warm oversized flanel with the sleeves rolled up and laura barton teaching her how you should space carrots out in your vegetable patch and natasha coming back into the kitchen with mud on her chin and under her fingernails and a peace in her eyes that clint's never seen before

It was never an uncommon occurrence for Yelena to look at Natasha as if she positively hung the moon, stars, and everything else in the sky, but given the fact that they had not had a lot of quality time to spend together lately, it was the first time in a while that Natasha had the opportunity to fully take it in.
They were sitting together watching a movie, the both of them on the couch in their little old house. It was Encanto, and despite the fact that they had seen it far too many times, Yelena was still obsessed since it came to streaming services, so they had to watch it at least occasionally for all to remain right in the world.
But by the time that they had started on the second song of the movie, Yelena had laid down on the couch, her head in Natasha’s lap.
Natasha had started to absently stroke Yelena’s hair, the strands soft against Natasha’s fingers. She played gently with the somewhat darkened roots along Yelena’s scalp at the top of her head.
However, after a moment, she quickly realized that Yelena’s face was directed straight up instead of to the side in the direction of the television.
After a moment, Natasha looked down to where Yelena’s head was in her lap. To her surprise, Yelena was just staring straight up at her, her eyes practically glowing as a soft smile remained on her face. She was looking at Natasha so painfully softly that it took her off-guard just a little.
Yelena always did have a tendency to be able to have that effect on Natasha, even after a couple of years down the road since they had started living together and had grown so inseparably close.
Natasha touched her face, the back of her knuckles affectionately brushing Yelena’s cheeks, and something more mischievous suddenly entered Yelena’s gaze as she chuckled. Natasha noted the change with some surprise, thinking of how she was going to surreptitiously broach that subject.
Therefore, she decided to take the playful route, not right away pointing out that Yelena was doubtlessly up to something.
  Natasha huffed, raising an eyebrow.
“The movie not entertaining you enough, Rooskaya?” Natasha questioned softly. Yelena moved her hand dismissively, moving her hand at the television.
“I’ve seen it a thousand times,” Yelena declared. Natasha hummed in response before following up with an actual response.
“And I’m somehow more entertaining than the movie?” Natasha checked, and Yelena shrugged.
“Well, you mouthing the words to the songs is definitely entertaining,” Yelena pointed out, a grin on her face, and Natasha furrowed her brow.
“I don’t mouth the words,” Natasha tried to argue, and Yelena chuckled, the noise heartfelt and deep. It was adorable and Natasha had to fight back the smile threatening to overtake her face.
  “You do,” Yelena persisted.
“I don’t,” Natasha insisted, not sure she could remember a single time that she had done that. Granted, Encanto songs were catchy, but she had not mouthed the words.
“Ah, you do. But it’s okay. I wouldn’t mind if you sang with the movie,” Yelena acknowledged, trying to sound nonchalant despite the fact that there was an obvious request in her voice.
Natasha met her eyes, and she could see the unasked question in her eyes. Natasha sighed softly, allowing her smile to finally consume her features as she playfully covered Yelena’s eyes with her hand.
“We’ll see, little one,” Natasha stated simply, but her tone was that of agreeance. Yelena playfully angled her head back to bump her nose into Natasha’s hand but there was a definitive grin on her face and sparkle in her eyes as she peered at Natasha from underneath the redhead’s hand.
“Can you sing it with the Spanish accents and everything?” Yelena asked, and Natasha halfheartedly scoffed, the both of them knowing all too well that she did not mean it.
  “Don’t push your luck.”
………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The second time it happened was in the compound common room.
“The Midwest is way smaller than that,” Carol declared lazily, and Natasha looked up from her work at her computer, taking in the sight of Yelena and Carol resting on the couch not too far off. They had just come in from their usual run that they took every day, and they had somehow gotten on the topic of the Midwest and its magnitude with Yelena claiming that it was large and Carol claiming it was small.
“No, it’s really not,” Yelena told her, and Carol just huffed.
“How do you know? You’ve never been,” Carol told her, sounding primarily amused despite Yelena negating her every word about the place that Carol knew better than any of them.
“I lived there for three years of my life!” Yelena argued, her voice getting high-pitched and almost becoming a whine as she tried to communicate her point to the taller blonde. Natasha could not help a smile both for the memories of those three good years and for how adorable Yelena sounded at this point.
“When you were a toddler or what?” Carol questioned.
“That doesn’t matter,” Yelena somewhat grumpily shot back.
“Definitely when you were a toddler, then,” Carol nodded with a tone that indicated that she was making some sort of mental note. Yelena just stared at her before starting to try to protest once more.
“Look, the Midwest is expansive!” Yelena declared, and Carol did not seem overly convinced or nearly as bothered as Yelena seemed about the whole thing.
“Maybe it is, but there’s only like three states,” Carol informed her coolly, and Yelena furrowed her brow, instantly making a move to correct her.
  “No, there’s—”
“Potatoes, Corn, and Cheese,” Carol calmly informed her.
  “No—”
“Okay, okay, look, wanna know a secret, short stack?” Carol asked, her voice indicating that she was finally having mercy on Yelena. Natasha could not help but smirk a little, the whole thing being rather humorous despite the fact that she herself had a bit of a soft spot for the Midwest.
“What?” Yelena asked, sounding somewhat exasperated, and Carol smirked she leaned in closer, offering a stage whisper.
“I’m from the Midwest, too. I’ve been messing with you this whole time, Squishmeister,” Carol assured her, and Yelena just stared at her for a moment before letting out a breath of irritation both on account of the nickname and the fact that Carol had been just getting her wound up the whole time.
“Then why are you making fun of it?” Yelena questioned, the wind out of her sails just a bit as she calmed down.
“Look, my allegiance is not really to a place because I’m good pretty much anywhere I go. It’s more the people that I’m with,” Carol confessed, and Yelena raised an eyebrow as she looked at her. Natasha watched them over the top of her laptop, her heart warming as she listened to the two of them.
“So you really wouldn’t care if you were living down in the muck in some swampland or something?” Yelena questioned, and Carol shrugged with a chuckle.
“Nah. I’ve been in Louisiana before, and it wasn’t that big of a deal. A lot of mosquitos and stuff, but the countryside was absolutely gorgeous,” Carol explained, and Yelena just looked at her carefully, taking in her words.
After a few minutes of silence, Yelena looked at her strangely.
“So you are one of those twenty-four-karat co—”
“No,” Carol cut her off before she even got to the end of that statement.
Natasha snorted in spite of herself as she remembered the words from some movie she had watched a long while back. While Natasha and even Yelena were by far no experts on slang words native to areas other than New York, she knew exactly what Yelena had been about to say.
Yelena grinned widely as she looked over at Natasha, her eyes adoring and just as painfully soft as they had been the other night, and Natasha could not help her chuckles as Carol looked positively shocked. Yelena was undeniably exceedingly proud of herself, and Natasha could not help her slight smile at the younger woman’s antics.
Yelena’s face was so easy for Natasha to read and when her eyes were on Natasha, they almost always bore that sense of affection but sometimes, it was painfully and completely shocking with just how strong it was.
“Where did you even hear that?!” Carol demanded, surprise in her tone, and Yelena smirked knowingly.
“From your sweet little niece the other day when she was on the phone with you,” Yelena pointed out, and Carol instantly just gaped at Yelena in surprise.
“Yeah, I was listening,” Yelena owned up to it proudly, looking between Carol and Natasha as she alternated between reveling in her victory against Carol and enjoying the fact that she was making Natasha laugh.
“Look, it’s more okay for Monica to say that because she’s actually from Louisiana, alright?” Carol told her, and it was then that she noticed Yelena looking over at Natasha proudly. Carol quickly caught up with what was happening, and she suddenly had a smirk of her own.
“Hey, look at me when we’re having a good argument. Making heart-eyes at your other favorite, fearless hero isn’t going to save you,” Carol told her smugly, and it was only that comment that fully pulled Yelena’s gaze away from Natasha.
“My other hero?! Who’s the first hero?” Yelena demanded, not knowing where Carol was going but already not loving the sounds of it.
“Well, obviously me because we hang out so much. You and Kamala both,” Carol trailed off, feigning a tiredness. Yelena started to reply to her and try to shoot something back, but she stopped for a moment, homing in on one particular phrase.
“Wait… Have you watched the new Puss in Boots movie?!” Yelena questioned suddenly, and Carol paused. Natasha watched her. For a brief moment, there was something that looked guilty in Carol’s gaze, but it quickly was hidden by a nonchalance that was just persistent enough to seem forced.
“No, why would you ask that?”
“Your favorite, fearless hero?” Yelena pointed out, and Carol just looked at her for a moment. She then, as gracefully as she could manage, replied to her.
“I’ve got a fondness for orange cats. There’s nothing wrong with that,” Carol tried to answer her as coolly as possible, and Yelena instantly cackled with utter glee, finding a new opportunity to mess with the older woman.
Natasha rolled her eyes, the two’s antics warming her heart. She did not miss, however, how Yelena’s eyes continued to find her own, a warmth sparkling in them as she eagerly waited to see Natasha’s amusement as it came.
And that only served to bring more warmth glowing in her chest.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The third time was in a completely odd setting from when Natasha was used to seeing such looks from her.
“‘It was a busy day in the Hundred Acre Wood. Everyone was getting ready for a big picnic with Christopher Robin,” Natasha started the story, her arm around Nate as he leaned against her while she read.
Natasha and Yelena had come to visit the Bartons and Natasha had offered to put the kids to bed by popular demand. The kids always loved it when she would come upstairs and read Nate a bedtime story. She always had the most imaginative voices for the characters, and also, her regular reading voice was always so soft and warm, and it was something that captured the attention of them all.
Currently, they were upstairs reading the chosen bedtime story of the night. It happened to be a Winnie the Pooh book, and all of the kids including Yelena were perched on the bed in some way or another despite the fact that Nate’s bed was not terribly big. It was a full mattress size bed, and while it was plenty large for him, it was difficult to fit three kids and the widow sisters.
Especially when two of the three kids were nearly full-grown, and Yelena, a kid herself, was definitely full-grown.
Nate was nestled directly next to Natasha, and Lila was resting directly on the other side of him as she listened to the book, her body stretched down the length of the mattress. Cooper was laying across the foot of the bed perpendicularly to Natasha and Lila. Yelena was somehow squeezed in between Cooper’s side and Natasha’s crossed legs as she listened and watched Natasha over the top of the book she was holding.
“Rabbit was bringing his famous carrot stew, Owl had his stories, and Eeyore was bringing a blanket,” Natasha turned the page as she reached the next set of characters that were participating in the picnic, and Nate watched carefully, alternating between looking at Natasha and the book in hand.
“Kanga and Roo were bringing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Tigger had some balloons, and Piglet was bringing some pie,” Natasha continued to list, and everyone was watching her as if it were the most riveting of shows.
It was not so much that the kids were obsessed with the book, but more that they loved the way that Natasha told stories. Her voice was perfect for reading.
Yelena especially was watching closely, her eyes glued to Natasha as she remained silent and listened to every rise and fall of her breaths as well as the gentle symphony of her voice while it read the lines of the book.
“But there was one big problem,” Natasha trailed off as she turned the page quickly to further the dramatic effect of her statement.
“Pooh had lost what he was going to bring!” Natasha read, her voice lilting upward just a bit as she kept her voice soft but imitated an exclamation.
Yelena smiled briefly as she took it in.
“‘Oh, bother… I’ve lost my hunny!’” Natasha read aloud, doing Winnie the Pooh’s voice as well as she could manage, and Nate instantly laughed. Lila could not help sharing a wide grin with Yelena, and Cooper laughed a little, too, simply because of how silly the sound was.
Natasha grinned to herself as she continued the book.
“‘Oh, where, oh, where could my hunny be?!’” she read, trying her best to be a good Pooh.
“‘Hoohoohoohoo!!!’” Natasha tried to sound like Tigger, and instantly all of the kids burst into laughter, including Yelena. Natasha had to concentrate all of her thoughts on the book to keep from breaking character, but she did allow herself a small grin and a wobble of the lips as laughter threatened to pour from her.
“‘Don’t worry, Pooh-Bear! I’ll help you find your Hunny! Or my name isn’t T-I-Double Guh-R!’” Natasha managed to keep a straight face for long enough to say. Like a trooper, however, she continued to maintain her level voice.
It was then that she happened to look up from her book page to glance at Yelena and Cooper. Her eyes swept over Cooper’s facial expression, proudly taking in his amused grin, but she paused as she looked at Yelena.
She was looking at her, her head propped up on a hand as she watched the older woman. Her lips were a little pursed from where her cheek was squished by her hand, but her eyes were positively glowing with complete, unadulterated adoration.
It was like Natasha had cast a spell on her, and her entire being was solely focused on Natasha. Her sole reason for living, existing, and even maintaining mere consciousness was for Natasha herself. It was enough to almost bring tears to Natasha’s eyes at the sight of the pure love that only a younger sibling could hold in their heart.
But she forced the tears away, mustering a brief but loving smile at her baby sister as she proceeded to keep reading for the kids.
And, of course, for the big kid Yelena.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………
However, one day, it was not Yelena that had the adoring expression, but rather vice versa.
“Ugh… Why can’t I pay attention to anything today?!” Kate whined unhappily, her voice carrying easily from the common room.
Yelena was not too far off from the conversation but she was barely paying attention. She was currently focused on the television, and she was practicing at the latest video game that Peter had come up with. After all, she could not let the boy get away with kicking her butt just because he had more experience.
“Must be that ADHD kicking in again,” Darcy pointed out in reply to Kate, laughing a little, and Yelena could hear the smirk in her voice as she made the comment.
Yelena instantly zeroed in on that statement. She could hardly hear anything else outside of the words that were now ringing in her head as red rage started to overtake her senses.
Darcy was making fun of Kate? As much as Yelena could not believe it, she was not about to stand for it regardless of who it was coming from. Her head snapped to the side as she glared directly at Darcy.
The little nerd had not even realized that Yelena was looking at her and had caught her in the act. Therefore, Yelena paused her game swiftly, standing up as she made her anger more pronounced.
“Hey! What did you say?!” Yelena raised her voice, striding over quickly as she looked Darcy directly in the eye.
“Uh… Her ADHD’s kicking in?” Darcy questioned uncertainly, obviously not sure why this was a big deal, and Yelena’s jaw instantly set. She shouldered Kate out of the way, and while it was not gentle, it was not a rough movement either and it did not really hurt her.
Kate looked completely shocked at the fact that Yelena was defending her, but Yelena largely ignored her as she prepared to tell Darcy exactly what she thought. She was extremely tempted to simply punch her, but she was doing her best to hold back on her more violent tendencies, knowing that Natasha likely would not be happy when word eventually got back to her.
Darcy was surprised also, and she was currently trying to lean away from Yelena just a bit, looking at her as if she had sprouted two extra heads.
“You have a problem with her having ADHD? Want to make fun of it again to my face?!” Yelena demanded, her mind filled with nothing but pure fury and fire as she got in Darcy’s face. Darcy raised her hands, trying to calm Yelena down.
“Woah, woah, cool down some!” Darcy attempted to placate her, and Yelena snarled, the fact that Darcy was trying to calm her down making her even more angry.
“Cool down?! I will show you—”
“Yelena, Yelena, it’s okay,” Kate quickly tried to stop her, moving around Yelena once she had managed to get ahold of herself from the shock overtaking her mind.
Yelena just stared at her, rage still clawing at her heart and the heat prickling at her skin. Kate shook her head, trying to keep herself between Darcy and Yelena.
“I told her it was okay to make jokes like that. She’s okay,” Kate tried to assure her, and Yelena looked at her with some confusion as she stared the both of them down.
A few beats passed, and Darcy finally regained her nerve.
“That’s what I was trying to tell you,” Darcy unhelpfully supplied as she raised up on her toes to put her chin on Kate’s shoulder. Kate glanced at her quickly with a fleeting smile before looking back at Yelena somewhat nervously.
Yelena looked between the both of them wordlessly, deciphering whether Kate was just trying to keep her from jumping the glasses-clad girl or if she genuinely meant the words. However, after a few more moments of silence, Yelena made her verdict, and she loosened significantly, letting out a scoff.
“You watch yourself, Lewis,” Yelena grumbled, not truly aggressive at this point but still offering her a warning as she started to back away and turn around.
Kate suddenly started to smile goofily as she truly realized what had just transpired.
“Wait… You were going to defend me?” Kate questioned, and Yelena just huffed, rolling her eyes.
“Don’t get excited. It’s part of the job description,” Yelena dismissed, and Darcy narrowed her eyes, getting far too much enjoyment out of this one.
“Which one? Being one of her big sister figures or—”
“The Avenger job,” Yelena cut her off, and Darcy raised an eyebrow.
“Last time I checked, Avengers don’t defend people from simple words,” Darcy astutely pointed out, and Yelena scoffed.
“Look, they do not let injustice happen, okay? Now go back to talking and making fun of each other’s situations,” Yelena waved them off. She turned around more fully and that was when she made eye contact with Natasha who had been apparently watching her the entire time.
Natasha was looking at her with an expression that could only be described as utterly adoring, and it took Yelena off-guard a little. Those light greens were shining gently but surely, and it was one of those looks that had all of the pride, affection, protectiveness, and just love that Natasha felt toward Yelena.
It was such a sweet expression, and although Yelena had seen it before, it nevertheless always got to her and made her heart leap with love and excitement at the fact that she had somehow earned this look.
She stared at her big sister for a few moments, unsure what to think. And finally, because she was utterly lost as to what brought it on, she spoke up.
“What are you looking at, poser?” Yelena finally settled on saying with a bit of a huff, and Natasha’s smile just grew, her head dipping just a little as she looked up at Yelena lovingly.
  “I saw you defending Kate.”
“Ugh… Lewis was just being stupid and you know how Katie-Bear is,” Yelena dismissively told her, trying not to make a huge deal out of it despite the huge deal that it had indeed been.
Natasha raised an eyebrow, moving closer to her as she took her face in her hands and delivered a soft kiss to Yelena’s nose. Yelena just looked at her in confusion but adoration all the same, and Natasha raised an eyebrow.
“We both know why you did it. I’m just proud of you for doing it without any reason to,” Natasha expressed, and Yelena pushed her head forward, keeping Natasha from moving away too far as she moved so that their foreheads were pressed into one another.
The unspoken “or without me around” was heavily implied, and Yelena could hear it just as clearly as if Natasha had actually spoken it. But nevertheless, she was pleased that Natasha was so happy with her even though she had been caught being protective toward Kate Bishop.
“Look, it’s… I’m supposed to protect her,” Yelena left it at that, hoping Natasha could just read between the lines and would not make it into a bigger deal than it had to be.
The way that Natasha was looking at her said it all, Yelena reading the implicit understanding and affection in her eyes, and she knew she could let the nervousness dissipate as she loosened in Natasha’s hold.
  “I know, sweet girl.”

hi! First of all, sorry for my English, I'm from Argentina so I'm using the translator. I'm looking for a fic where Peter is Cooper's friend. I think the Bartons had to go live with Tony for a safety issue, and then Tony has a conversation with Cooper in the kitchen or something where he confesses that he wants to go to school, and there he meets Peter.
Then something happened like Peter calls Cooper badly injured, and he tells Tony to go look for him.
Hello, could this maybe be your fic?
When You Need Me by The_Mishamigo
After their safe house is compromised, Clint Barton and his family have nowhere else to go but the Avengers compound. Tony Stark, who is certain that he’s the worst with kids, has to deal with everything that comes with living with them. Cooper makes a friend named Peter, and why does Tony seem to get along with him so well? And why does he act so… familiar?
